Core Values
The core value of a revivalist should include the following.
Love:
God’s love is the foundation of all Christian ministry. Without a personal revelation of Father God’s love there is no basis for ministry. This is the starting point and should always be the focus of our attention.
Empowerment instead of control:
We are to empower people not seek to control them. Pastor, if you have just completed a counseling session please ask yourself if you have empowered those you ministered to. If you are an employer, boss, or supervisor then are you empowering those you have stewardship over? Husbands are you empowering your wife and children?
Ownership:
Romans 8 says that those that walk in the Spirit are the sons of God. A revivalist allows his spirit, taught by the Holy Spirit, to take ownership by leading you in the affairs of life. When you make a mistake then take ownership of resolving the issue.
Accountability:
Most accountability carries the cloak of control. Teach those in your sphere of influence to love Jesus and be accountable to Him. Then we will be accountable to one another. If you are an immature Christian then you may need someone to help you overcome some issues. When accountability is done to empower then it will bring about the fruit of Love.
Risk:
If you do not take a risk you will never move forward. If you pray for someone to be healed ask them to try to do something they could not do before. If you share Jesus with someone then ask them if they would like to serve Jesus. Close the deal before moving on.
Honor:
This is really big in revival culture. At Bethel Church when a key leader comes to the platform we all stand and applaud them. Why? We give honor because we are honorable. Honor flows from honor. Prophetic words must always honor. If you disagree with this then you have as much to learn as I do. We honor others even if they do not deserve it. When you honor others it will bring them into your sphere of influence.
Confrontation:
When someone is obviously not living by the values they claim then it is time to tell them that they are way to awesome to be acting like that. The Greek word often translated “to witness” is where we get our English word martyr. If we don’t care what people do to us then we will not mind confrontation so much.
Supernatural Power:
It is funny how the church has given the supernatural over to the new age. The life of a believer is a life of supernatural power. All of the many gifts of the Holy Spirit are in 100% operation today. If you deny it then … well… I wonder …. never mind. A man with an experience is never at the mercy of a man with an argument.
Royalty:
Jesus said he is King of Kings and Lord of Lords. You are a King or Queen in his Kingdom. We often use the word Prince or Princess instead of Queen or King. You are daughter or son of God. You are part of the Kings household.
Honesty:
The Bible says to love others as you love yourself. This requires a revelation of Father God’s love in your life. Once you understand that your identity is in Christ you no longer have to walk in false humility by saying, “I’m just a sinner saved by grace”. That makes the blood of Jesus so cheap. You were a sinner and now you are a saint. You can now say, “By the Grace of God I’m a saint filled with the glory of God”.
The mind of Christ:
The Bible says we have the mind of Christ. This means we are people of wisdom and revelation. We understand the Word of God. We hear from heaven and take great joy in doing what the Holy Spirit directs us to do.
